How To Transfer Contacts to Apple iPhone - My Sister-In-Law Way

I bumped into my brother and his wife today at the COMEX. She too, had just purchased an iPhone. I caught a glimpse of her iPhone's contacts and it looked like a long list. So I was rather curious as to how she transferred her old cell phone's contacts to her new iPhone . So I had to asked. She installed her new SIM card into her old cell and copied her contacts into the new SIM card. Then reinstall the new SIM card back to her iPhone. Simplicity at its best. Why didn't I think of that!!

How To Transfer Nokia Contacts To Apple iPhone - My Way

I spent 3 hours queing for these communication contraption. Yes people, I have succumbed to Apples marketing seduction.

I spent another 3 hours trying to figure out how to transfer the contacts in my trusty Nokia 6021 to iPhone. Initially I thought its going to be a breeze. Hey, the iPhone 3G got bluetooth and so is has 6021 so I'm just going "tooth" the contacts. To my horror, after 1one hour of googling, I concluded iPhone 3G's bluetooth is TOOTHLESS. iPhone 3G can only pair and exchange data with an headset device! Goddamit Steve Jobs. How can you missed this. Every self-respecting bluetooth cell phone should have at least data transfer capabilities with another cell phone.

So to the marketing gods of Nokia, Sony Errickson, Samsung, etc. If you want to protect or increase your market share then in your advertisements say aloud these words : iPhones' Bluetooth is TOOTHLESS.

But I am still stuck with my toothless iPhone and with no contacts. But wait, my genius brain has come up with a brilliant scheme. My research of iTunes has revealed that iTunes will syncs Vista's Windows Contacts application if needed and Windows Contacts is able to import data from CSV files and Nokia Communication Centre application is able to export contacts to a csv file.

The SOLUTION: Use text file.

I know this is a low tech solution and it involves a lot more steps than if you were to use bluetooth. But it has some benefits that bluetooth doesn't have. I'll show the benefits in a short while. Now I'll give the step-by-step breakdown:

1. Download the Nokia PC Suite. The Nokia Communication Centre is part of the PC Suite. So you have to download the whole basket of application. http://www.google.com/search?q=Download+Nokia+PC+Suite

2. Install the Nokia PC Suite on your PC. Duh.

3. Establish a bluetooth pairing of the Nokia cell phone with your PC.

4. Open the Nokia PC Suite and click on the Contacts icon. Mouse over the icons and the name will be displayed in case you're wondering how the Contacts icon look like.

5. After clicking the Contacts icon. the Nokia Communication Centre will be loading in your PC.
